PRUSSIA – PAINTING – LEUTNANT – KÜRAßIER-REGIMENT Nr 7

$125.00

This is an interesting painting on wood, showing an officer from Prussia’s Küraßier-Regiment von Seydlitz (Magdeburgisches) Nr 7.

The regiment was founded in 1815. It was garrisoned at Quedlinburg and Halberstadt, and attached to the IV. ArmeeKorps. The wooden panel measures 12 1/2″ x 10.” Holes appear at the top and bottom, probably from where it was attached to a wall. The painting of the officer is multicolored. It shows him mounted on a horse, wearing his full parade uniform. This includes his uniform and küraß. Yellow appears on his collar, sabertache, and his horse’s blanket. This identifies him to the Küraßier-Regiment von Seydlitz (Magdeburgisches) Nr 7. Some scraping has affected the wood in the past, but the young officer’s image was not harmed.

The reverse features the unit’s identification.
