Description
This is a fascinating, framed, color lithograph of King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia. Friedrich Wilhelm III was the King of Prussia during the time of the Napoleonic Wars. He was also the king who instituted the 1813 Iron Crosses 1st and 2nd Class. The lithograph was produced by a Berlin firm. The framed item measures 17 3/4″ x 12 3/4.” It is possible that this example and the one listed below were used as plates in a book, or perhaps they were produced individually. I estimate that both were produced, then framed around 1900 to 1910. The frames certainly are old, but not so old as to hail from Friedrich Wilhelm III’s time.
