Description
The Kriegs-Flugblätter des Simplicissimus (The Simplest War Handbills) was one of the better-known national German newspapers reporting on war news. This periodical, while slanted to the German war effort, was a bit more balanced than many other newspapers of the time. This four-page newspaper deals with a number of issues. On the front page it features a likeness of Kapitänleutnant Otto Weddigen, the U-Boot hero and first Navy winner of the Orden Pour le Mérite. Also on the front page, we see German soldiers manning a large-caliber cannon. Inside are other cartoons and poems.
