Throughout warfare’s history, one side or the other often has claimed that a conflict would end quickly, and that “the boys will be home by Christmas!” (or the appropriate holiday for the time). This was certainly the case in WW I. Every year hopes rose that the war would soon end, and the soldiers would come home for Christmas. The book deals with postcards, letters, etc. that show the thinking on both sides as the war dragged on. It is a hardcover book with a dust jacket. It is well-illustrated.
