Description
GERMANY – IRON CROSS – 1914 – 2nd CLASS – MOTHER-OF-PEARL IRON CROSS-SHAPED BACKGROUND
Elegant and uniquely displayed 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class. A mother-of-pearl shell section, measuring 3 ½” x 3 ½,” has been cut into the shape of an Iron Cross. It serves as a illuminating background or frame for an actual 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class.
The Iron Cross’ obverse has excellent enameled paint, which rates 100% as does its reverse. It has a high quality frame, with a superb patina. A hallmark appears on the jump ring, and appears to be a “Z.”
The mother-of-pearl frame has a hook that has been added to hold the EK in place.
The frame’s reverse has an added device that serves as a hook to hang the piece on a wall. Some very slight chipping touches three of the cross’s eight arm points.
This is a wonderful piece that combines German patriotism with an actual EK.
