Description
Daily dispatches were released from Germany’s General Headquarters (Großes Hauptquartier). This was dispatch Nr 1035 from 29 October 1916. It reported news from all fronts. The Army commanders mentioned included Generalfeldmarschall Kronprinz Rupprecht, Kronprinz Wilhelm, Generalfeldmarschall Prinz Leopold of Bavaria, General der Kavallerie Erzherzog Carl, and Generalfeldmarschall August von Mackensen. Perhaps the biggest announcement included is Hauptmann Oswald Boelcke’s death. It mentions that he died with forty confirmed victories. This is an interesting item for an aviation collector. The document measures 12 1/4″ x 11 1/2.” It is trimmed in red, black, and white, and sports a 1914 Iron Cross in its upper left corner.
