GERMANY – SCHREIBMAPPE – OFFICER

$350.00

This is an Officer’s Schreibmappe from 1904. This was used by an officer as a writing and mapping booklet. Throughout the Schreibmappe are many advertisements that helped underwrite some its production costs. It contains a lot of military and non military information that was useful to an officer on a daily basis. It has such things as prices for mailing letters and packages, and sending telegrams. A section is included with a calendar, and important dates, holidays, etc. for 1904. Another section delineates each of the German states along with their then-current rulers. Following that is a section showing the German Army’s organization in 1904. It shows organization from Armee-Korps to division to brigade, down to regiment. A comprehensive section for the Kaiserliche Marine shows its organization. This is a wonderful research tool even100 years later. While I cannot cover it all, it even features information on the required and optional articles of uniform, headdress, etc. for officers, as well as information on ranks, and even retirement. This is one handy little book that measures 14 1/4″ x 9 1/2.”
