- Tapferkeits-Medaille (Bravery Medal) from Hesse-Darmstadt’s Grand Duchy
- The decoration was awarded from 1894-1918
- Obverse shows a profile of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig
- Reverse bears “Für Tapferkeit” within a wreath
- Prewar example made of silver
- Original red and gray ribbon
- Original cardboard packet The packet measures 2 1/4″ x 2 3/4,” and sports the decoration’s name printed on its exterior. On its inside flap it has the hallmark for Darmstadt jeweler “Ernst Marholdt.”
When awarded during the war years, it generally was awarded noting the years of service.
