Description
This is a Third Reich-era photo album that I recently unearthed. I cannot say exactly what year in which the photos began, but I believe that some of them were taken in the years before Adolf Hitler assumed power in Germany in 1933. I say this because many of the photos show older men and young men in SA uniforms. The photos show them posing in and around a city, which I believe is Nuremberg. I believe this as some of the photographs were taken at the Nuremberg stadium where many of the really big party rallies were held. I also say pre 1933, as several photographs depict the Graf Zeppelin or the Hindenburg. They are seen without the swastikas on their rudders. They were added AFTER 1933 and the NSDAP’s rise to power.
As the photos progress we see young men who are clearly in the army post 1933, as swastikas begin to appear on their uniforms. Toward the album’s end, one photo shows troops in Russia with a sign dated 1942.
A total of seventy photos of all sizes are included. I believe they cover more than ten years of important German history. The photos include street scenes with Nazi banners and other photos of daily life.
