Description
This is an original matted photograph of an early observation balloon. The photograph, which measures 4″ x 5 3/4,” is surrounded by a matte measuring 4 1/8″ x 6 1/2.” The photograph shows the balloon with its basket still on the ground, surrounded by a crowd. I date it from 1890 to 1900. A description on the reverse indicates that the photograph may have been taken in Bohemia.
