Description
This is a large-format original photograph, which measures 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2,” depicting Bavaria’s Crown Prince Rupprecht (1869-1955) in an observation balloon’s basket. It is getting ready to make a flight. In the basket with him are his wife, oldest son Prinz Luitpold (1901-1914), and several other Bavarian officers. This information is pencilled on the reverse. Judging from the young prince’s apparent age, I estimate the photograph dates from 1907 to 1911.
