Description
This lovely Vivat Ribbon commemorates Belgium’s Battle of Dixmuiden. Vivat Ribbons were produced mostly in the early years of WW I, to help boost patriotic support and to help efforts of the German Red Cross. The pale blue/red ribbon is made of silk and measures 2 ½” x 15 1/4.” Embossed on the ribbon in black is the Belgian city of Dixmuide with a small Iron Cross. Below that within a wreath is a Hohenzollern Eagle and the caption, “Vivat 20 October 1914 Dixmuiden.” Mention is made of “Die Jungen Regimenter.” The area was the site of some of WW I’s most vicious fighting, including Yser. The Vivat is in very fine condition. [PLEASE NOTE: we have a very special period collector’s album that was designed specifically to house Vivat Ribbons.
