Description
This is a Vivat Ribbon commemorating Battles at Douamont and Hardaumont. These were French forts at Verdun that fell to the Germans. The fort at Douamont was victoriously entered by a German hauptmann, who was then awarded the Pour le Mérite. [We were privileged to offer and sell his PLM, Urkunde, as well as many other documents and decorations several years ago]. The ribbon is orange in color, and measures 15 3/4″ x 2 1/2.” Vivat Ribbons generally were issued under the auspices of the German Red Cross. The ribbon is in excellent condition.
