VIVAT RIBBON SALUTING ONE-HUNDRED-YEARS (1813-1913) FOR HAMBURG

$50.00

This is a very early Vivat Ribbon that commemorates a century in the city of Hamburg’s life span. The lavender Vivat measures 2″ x 17.” At the top it depicts Hamburg’s world-famous Rathaus (town hall). It was completed in 1897, suffered heavy damage in WW II, and was restored using the original blueprints. Three important men from Hamburg’s history are shown. A patriotic poem (I believe) appears under their likenesses. [Hamburg itself dates to the 9th Century, and has long been a major trade center. A proud Hamburger once told me that Hamburg had more canals than Venice! He added that Hamburg boasted more embassies and consulates than West Germany’s pre reunification capital, Bonn].
[We also want to point out that we maintain a complete Merchandise Page featuring Vivat Ribbons (click here to see). We have a wide variety of these commemorative ribbons that salute Imperial Germany’s members of royalty and military commanders, as well as Germany’s WW I military victories. We even have a very special album that was created during WW I to specifically display Vivats. We will be happy to offer a very special price on the latter so that you may start and enjoy a wonderful Vivat collection].
