Description
This postcard shows Crown Prince Wilhelm (1882-1951) and his wife, Crown Princess Cecilie (1886-1954). They are seated in a study, with a stern Hussar officer looking on from a photograph on the desk. (It may be of Cecilie’s uncle, Duke John Albert of Mecklenburg, who served as regent for Cecilie’s brother after their father’s death in 1897). Since the couple are wearing the same outfits as Postcard 45-43, the photo was probably taken at the Jagdschloss Gelbensande, where they became engaged. (It is dated 1904 on the back. They were married in June 1905). The postcard was not mailed.
