Description
This is an unusual pair of Bavarian General Staff (Generalstab) Major’s epaulettes. These date from 1910, approximately. Their silver-toned crescent moons serve as framing devices. Silver-toned (with a touch of brassiness) braid ringlets hang down from their edges, and a silver-toned button decorates each epaulette. The bullion striping on each epaulette’s tongue displays blue thread identifying them as Bavarian. The magenta rose color of the wool felt covering the epaulettes’ basic shape confirms they are for a General Staff officer. The epaulettes’ underlay matches their magenta rose tops. I am very pleased to offer them. It is the first time I have offered a General Staff officer’s uniform accessory, particularly one from Bavaria and they even come in the original storage carton from a Bavarian military effects firm. Their overall condition is excellent.
