Paul von Hindenburg was Germany’s most popular military official during WW I. Recalled from retirement in 1914, he commanded a victorious army in Russia during 1914 to 1915. He rose to become the Chief of the German General Staff in 1916. His popularity continued after WW I’s end, and eventually was elected the Weimar Republic’s President.
Our offering today is a most handsome patriotic plate that measures 10” in diameter. The multicolored plate features green, red, black, white, and gold highlights, with gold being the dominant color. It is an early war example that displays the legend “Aus Großer Zeit 1914-15” (From the Greater Time 1914-15).
The plate is in mint condition, with no chips or damage.
