SHOULDER BOARD – HESSE-DARMSTADT -OBERST
Here is a pre 1897 Oberst’s shoulder board from Hesse-Darmstadt. The shoulder board features a brass button that helps secure it to a tunic. It also sports the Oberst’s two brass pips, which display the Grand Duchy’s brass crown in their centers. The board boasts a silver bullion Russian rope background that is further embellished with Hesse-Darmstadt’s emblematic, red and gold chevrons.
Its reverse displays a white felt backing that features just a hint of moth nips, showing honest wear for the more than one-hundred-year-old shoulder board. The board’s reverse also reveals a substantial metal clip that allowed it to slip onto the tunic, as well as a black strap. It is a lovely item that remains in fine condition, overall. It is a consignment item.
