Prussia’s Prinz Louis Ferdinand (1907-1994) was Kronprinz Wilhelm’s second son. He became the Kronprinz when his older brother, Wilhelm, renounced his claim to Germany’s throne in 1933. Louis Ferdinand married Grand Duchess Kira Kirillovna (1909-1967) in 1938. The first ceremony was Russian Orthodox and took place in Potsdam. The second ceremony was a Lutheran ceremony that took place at Haus Doorn in the Netherlands. Haus Doorn was Kaiser Wilhelm II’s (Prinz Louis Ferdinand’s grandfather) place of exile. The postcard shows the wedding party at Haus Doorn. Among the celebrants are Kaiser Wilhelm II, his son, Kronprinz Wilhelm, and his son’s wife, Kronprinzessin Cecilie.
