Description
This postcard shows Princess Marie Auguste (1898-1983) of Anhalt, the wife of Prinz Joachim (1890-1920), Kaiser Wilhelm II’s youngest son. She bore Joachim one son before their divorce and his suicide in 1920. She is seated in a close-in, three-quartered pose, still wearing her elaborately flower-embroidered coat with ruched edging around the collar and cuffs. Her ermine muff is just visible in the postcard’s lower left corner.
