This postcard shows Princess Marie Auguste (1898-1983) of Anhalt, the wife of Prinz Joachim (1890-1920), Kaiser Wilhelm II’s youngest son. She bore Joachim one son before their divorce and his suicide in 1920. She is wearing a high-necked, long-sleeved, embroidered lace blouse beneath a low-cut silk or satin pinafore. She is holding her ermine stole and wearing her feather-topped picture hat.
