Description
GERMANY – ARMY WOUND BADGE – SILVER – PRIVATE PURCHASE
The Silver Army wound badge represents the second class of wound badges. The Army wound badge we are offering was a privately purchased wound badge.
A bit of history on the Army Wound Badges, was that the badges were first authorized in March 1918, and were awarded in three classes. Black is the third class, Silver represents the second class, and gold being the first class award.
The Army wound badge issue pieces are of a solid stamped design. They feature an raised stalhelm, in the center, with crossed swords.
This privately purchased example was stamped as the issue pieces, however they are a “cut out” design with the area around the stalhelm and crossed swords being void. The wound badges also have a vertical pin on the reverse.
This gold army wound badge is in excellent condition.
This is a consignment item.
