Description
This postcard shows the Battleship Kurfürst Friedrich Wilhelm. She was commissioned in 1897. One of her first commanders was Kapitän zur See von Holtzendorff. He became the Navy’s overall commander (the same role as Alfred von Tirpitz) and was the Kaiserliche Marine’s final Großadmiral. In 1910, she was sold to Turkey. In 1915, she was sunk by the British submarine E 11. The postcard was never mailed.
