Description
This a color postcard of Kaiser Wilhelm II’s racing sloop, the S.M.Y. Meteor. The Meteor was formerly the Scottish racing sloop Thistle. The Thistle served as an America’s Cup Challenger for Scotland. She was sold to the Kaiser in 1891 and used for his racing with the Kaiserliche Yacht Club. When she was retired, she was renamed the S. M. S. Comet and used as a training ship.
