GERMANY – SANKE CARD – LEUTNANT HEINRICH BONGARTZ – NR 603
This is Sanke card Nr 603 of Leutnant Heinrich Bongartz (1892-1946). During WW I he scored thirty-three confirmed victories. He received the Orden Pour le Mérite personally from Kaiser Wilhelm II in December 1917. He was wounded five times. He also served in the Luftwaffe.
In this pose he is seen wearing a visor cap. On his tunic we see his Prussian pilot badge, 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class, a small ribbon bar, and his PLM.
This card is in excellent condition and was never mailed.
