GERMANY – SANKE CARD – OBERLEUTNANT RUDOLF BERTHOLD – NR 423
Rudolf Berthold (1891-1920) was a forty-four victory ace. He was awarded the Orden Pour le Mérite in April 1917. His commands included Jastas 4, 14, and 18. Also Jagdgruppe 7 and Jagdeshwader II. He was severely wounded several times during the war and was killed in fighting in Hamburg during the Freikorps period.
This Sanke card Nr 423. Berthold is seen wearing the Prussian pilot badge and 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class on his left breast. The Pour le Mérite is at his throat.
The postcard is in excellent condition and has never been mailed.
