This postcard shows Herzog (Duke) Ernst August of Braunschweig (1887-1953). Ernst August assumed Braunschweig’s throne in 1913, after his marriage earlier in the year to Prinzessin Viktoria Luise (1892-1980). She was Kaiser Wilhelm II’s only daughter. This pose shows Ernst August in the Interim Attila (pre feldgrau black) for Husaren-Regiment Nr 17 of Braunschweig. Sitting on a table behind him is his busby with that regiment’s Totenkopf.
