Description
GERMANY – BOOT KNIFE
Nearly every soldier carried a boot knife of varying sizes, which he purchased at his own expense to go along with the bayonet that he was issued to mount on his Mauser rifle.
Boot knives were commonly used in trenches for a variety of tasks. They were also used in combat as a weapon of last resort in the life and death struggles that took place. The blade is marked Solingen and there is some tarnish evident. The sheath is made of leather with silver toned metal at the throat and at the end. The handle is made of stag.
A lovely little knife which shows utility and a deadly use as well.
