Description

This überrock is a rare and historic piece of military clothing. It was originally worn by a Leutnant (second lieutenant) in a Garde-Regiment (Guards Regiment) in Prussia, a German state that existed from the 16th to the early 20th centuries.

The überrock is a long tunic that extends far down the legs. It is made of dark blue wool with silver buttons and trim. The collar is large and bold, and it is made of silver bullion. There is red piping down both halves of the tunic, and the cuffs are red. There are two decorative emblems on the collar, each with a silver button. The shoulder boards are for a Leutnant and are made of black chevrons on a silver background. Each has a small silver button. The underlay is white, which confirms that this tunic comes from a Garde-Regiment.

The reverse of the tunic has an extremely large vent flap with red piping. There are six large silver buttons on the vent flap. The interior of the tunic is made of luxurious black silk.

This überrock is in excellent condition. It has no moth damage, and it is only slightly faded. It is estimated to date back to 1890 or before.

This überrock is a valuable piece of history. It is a rare and authentic example of Prussian military clothing. It would be a prized addition to any collection of military artifacts.

The Garde-Regiment (Guards Regiment) was a prestigious infantry regiment in the Prussian Army. It was formed in 1644 by Frederick William, the Great Elector of Brandenburg, and was originally known as the Leibregiment zu Fuß (Foot Life Regiment). The regiment was renamed the Garde-Regiment in 1701, when Frederick I became King of Prussia.

The Garde-Regiment was one of the most elite units in the Prussian Army. Its soldiers were hand-picked for their physical fitness, discipline, and military bearing. The regiment was also one of the most decorated units in the Prussian Army, and its soldiers earned a reputation for bravery and heroism on the battlefield.

The Garde-Regiment fought in many of the major wars of the 18th and 19th centuries, including the Seven Years’ War, the Napoleonic Wars, and the Franco-Prussian War. The regiment was also involved in the suppression of the Revolutions of 1848 and the Boxer Rebellion.

The Garde-Regiment was disbanded in 1919, after the end of World War I. However, the regiment’s traditions and spirit live on in the modern German Army, which still has a number of units that trace their lineage back to the Garde-Regiment.
