Description
This postcard shows Duke Adolf Friedrich VI (1882-1918) of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. He held the small state’s throne from 1914 into 1918. He committed suicide on 23 February 1918. Since issues arose about his successor, Friedrich Franz IV of Mecklenburg-Schwerin became Regent until November 1918, when all German monarchs abdicated. In the photo, he is wearing a uniform with a six-place medal bar, a breast star, and a neck order. The postcard was not mailed.
