Description
This postcard shows Kaiser Franz Josef (1830-1916) during the 60th year of his reign (1848-1908). The old emperor is framed by abstract black and white designs that feature portraits of his Vienna and Hapsburg castles, as well as laurel and oak leaves. It was mailed and displays a special Austrian Empire Postage Stamp featuring Franz Josef as he looked in 1848. It is printed onto the postcard. This postcard’s reverse has a cancellation from Prague, and salutations for the anniversary in Czech and German. The note on the back appears to be in Czech, although it is addressed in German to a recipient in Berlin.
