Description
This postcard shows Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Franz Josef’s heir to the Austrian throne. He appears with his wife and three children. The 1913 photograph was taken in Vienna. He was assassinated, along with his wife, at Sarajevo in June 1914. This act contributed to WW I’s start approximately one month later, after much political wangling. The postcard was not mailed. If you look to the left of Franz Ferdinand’s wife, you will find some bubbling or other damage. The postcard is priced accordingly.
