Description
Anthony Fokker continued to design and build airplanes after WW I ended. He returned to the Netherlands and even built airplanes in the U.S. In 1925, the Fokker F VII. began production. It was a wooden airliner that had three motors (The Fokker Tri Motor and the Ford Tri Motor airplanes were famous in the 1920’s) and carried 8-12 passengers. The crash of a Fokker airliner in 1931 (a TWA flight) caused the death of famous Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne. This postcard shows a Fokker Tri Motor that was known at the “Silber Möwe” (Silver Seagull). The postcard has never been mailed.
