This is a very early (1835) rangliste for the Kingdom of Prussia. It is officially known as the “Rang und Quartier=Liste.” As the Prussian Army was relatively small at the time, the book is small. It is a soft cover book measuring 4″ x 6 ½” x 2.” The title page has an Iron Cross on it. Its index page indicates that a total of eight ArmeeKorps existed in 1835. Further, Prussia had about forty-five infantry, thirty-five cavalry, and eight artillery regiments. The Prussian Navy’s officers were listed on a single page, as they had only TWO officers! It is a most helpful book for research, as many of the officers from the Napoleonic Wars were still on active duty. Doing a quick bit of research, we see that Capitaine von Damitz is shown in Infanterie-Regiment Nr 6, still at the rank of Capitaine. We also see that he was awarded an 1813 Iron Cross 2nd Class! As I said, it is a handy little research agent. It is one of the earliest ranglisten that we have been able to offer, and it is surprisingly good condition.
