PRUSSIA – DISPLAY – 50 YEAR ULANEN

$295.00

I was really taken by this piece when I first saw it. It is a small, framed shadow box that measures 7″ x 5 3/4.” It has an easel on the reverse to prop it up for display. Inside the shadow box we see a finely executed gilt plate that itself measures 2″ 3 ½.” It recognizes the long service of a trooper or former trooper who served in Königl. Sachsen 2. Ulanen-Regiment Nr 18. This regiment was garrisoned in Leipzig and founded in 1867. At the very top of this plate we see, in profile, a tschapka that shows the wappen of the regiment. This plaque was awarded to a Bruno Kühn for 50 years of service. This length of service would have taken him back to 1884, when he first entered the regiment. The date of the award was 11 November 1934. This would have been the 16th anniversary of the end of WW I. This entire presentation is first class. It would be an interesting item for a cavalry collector or for the collector who just wants something different. The easel on the reverse is a little loose, so please be gentle with it.
