Description

AUSTRIA / GERMANY – PLATE – PATRIOTIC – GERMAN RED CROSS FROM THE PERIOD OF 1915.

This is an interesting plate which commemorates the German Red Cross from 1915. It also commemorates the alliance between Germany and Austria.

The central theme is a young boy who holds two shields which represent Germany and Austria. He also holds a flag for the Red Cross.

On the reverse we see that there is a great deal of information on the sponsoring organizations for the plate.

The two sponsoring organizations were:

  • Prussian Land Verein of the Red Cross
  • Fatherland (Frauen) Women’s Verein

The plate was produced by the noted Bavarian firm of Rosenthal. It is dated 1915 and the artist’s name is seen at the bottom and he has signed his work on the obverse.

This plate was never intended to be eaten from. It was meant to be displayed on a wall and so two small holes were drilled on the reverse. While we have had examples of this plate in the past, this is the best conditioned example that we have ever owned.

It is ready to mount on YOUR wall.
