This is a single page newspaper that deals with the assassination of Archduke Franz-Ferdinand and his wife. The newspaper is dated 28 June 1914. It has accounts and the story of the event that really set the dogs of war free. This paper was issued by the Berliner Lokal-Anzeiger. It measures 18″ x 11 1/4,” and is blank on the reverse. This was an “Extra” edition that was issued and offered free to make the public aware of this momentous event. While this event was not the only cause of the war, it WAS the spark that set events off. It led Germany, Great Britain, France, Russia, and Austria-Hungary to declare war. Other nations were brought into the conflict as events progressed. I have a small number of these papers available. They have been folded in half and are in excellent condition.
