Description
This color postcard commemorates 1898, the 50th year of Kaiser Franz Josef’s (1830-1916) reign. The lavishly illustrated card depicts the Kaiser in the upper left corner, with his Coat-of-Arms in the center. Pictures of his palace in Vienna and the Hapsburg Castle are above and th left of the Coat-of-Arms. A radiating gold star containing the number “50” is in the upper right corner between the years 1848 and 1898. Beneath it is the phrase “Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser” (God save the Emperor Franz).
