Description
During the Imperial German Period, only six Großadmiral’s were created. Two were created strictly as members of royalty. The first true Navy man to be awarded the rank was Hans von Koester. The postcard shows him in color on the occasion of his 70th birthday in April 1914. The card was authorized to benefit the Deutscher Flotten Verein. A slight bend is in the lower right corner.
