Description
GERMANY – CIGAR CUTTER – FASHIONED FROM ARTILLERY SHELL FUSE
This is a compact cigar cutter fashioned from an artillery shell fuse, and so is considered a “trench art” piece (wherein interesting battlefield debris was converted to patriotically-themed items). The cigar cutter is quite substantial, weighing 2 lbs. and 8 oz. The fuse’s top has a piece added whereby a cigar’s end can be neatly cut off by inserting it through its opening. An eagle has been stamped on the top.
The fuse’s base reveals the threads by which it was screwed onto the artillery shell’s top, as well as a number scale for setting the fuse prior to its being screwed in. The fuse’s side displays information reading “Dopp. Z. 98/Sb.”
It is an intriguing desk accessory for your desk or collector’s room table. You can also use it when enjoying your favorite cigar.
