Description
This is a small framed photograph of a 19th Century Prussian officer. The period frame measures 5” x 6 1/2.” The frame features three different colors in the molding. It has a very Victorian look to it. The colorized photo measures 3 1/2” x 5.” It depicts a Prussian officer in profile. Interestingly, he shows NO shoulder boards or epaulettes on his tunic, which, from its cut, is an überrock. The officer’s name appears on the reverse. His name appears to be “Alexander von . . .” I cannot make out the rest. He attained the rank of Generalleutnant and lived from 1807-1894. So, it is certain that he fought in the 1864 Danish-Prussian War, the 1866 Austro-Prussian War, and the 1870-1871 Franco-Prussian-War. More historical details about him appear on the reverse’s bottom.Overall, its condition is quite good for being more than one-hundred years-old.
