Description
The S. M. S. Nixe was built as a Kreuzerkorvette in 1885. She had three masts, but also was propelled by motors. She very much resembled warships from the Napoleonic Era, as she had gun ports. That said, the ship was armored. As the Kaiserliche Marine modernized, she was relegated to use as a training ship for cadets. The period frame measures 13 5/8″ x 11 7/8,” and hails from the 1900-1918 time period. Inside the frame is a matted color lithograph of the ship, which measures 6 11/16″ x 4 3/4.” The lithograph is dated 1900. Inside the framed area is the vessel’s name and the fact that she was a school ship. It is ready to hang on any wall.
