GERMANY – LIGHTER – TRENCH ART – TANK ABWEHR GEWEHR/M 1918/T-GEWEHR ROUND

$125.00

The lighter stands 3″ tall and measures 3/4″ in diameter at the base. The lighter’s silver cover is made from the projectile. It pulls out to reveal the object’s lighter-fluid-infused wick, and the wheel that ignites it. The lighter’s bottom unscrews to pour in the lighter fluid. Two different designs completely encircle the lighter’s exterior. One appears on the silver projectile section, while the other decorates the brass shell casing portion.
I have seen a spark flash when I turned the igniter wheel. The lighter MIGHT be functional, but I CANNOT guarantee it.…..

GERMANY – LIGHTER – TRENCH ART – FUNCTIONAL – TANK ABWEHR GEWEHR/M 1918/T-GEWEHR ROUND

This is a trench art lighter fashioned from a Tank Abwehr Gewehr, M1918 or T-Gewehr ammunition round. The round was used in what looked like an over-sized bolt action Mauser. It was chambered for 13.2mm rounds. The rifle itself was quite heavy, weighing-in at 38 lbs.! It was more than 5 feet in length and used a bi-pod. [In some cases, it was mounted on a cart]. It was used as an anti tank weapon. WW I British tanks sported only 20mm armoring, so this weapon proved effective against them, as it did against France’s lightly-armored Renault tanks.
