GERMANY – BUTTERDOSE (BUTTER DISH) – SMALL.
This is a small, lidded, Imperial German “Butterdose,” or “butter dish.” The lid, which has a small handle, is inscribed “Butterdose aus den Kriegsjahren 1916.17.” The lid is accented with gold trim on its edges. A circular area where the butter resides is revealed once the lid is removed. The butter dish’s bottom features some marks, but they do NOT appear to be a manufacturer’s hallmarks.
