GERMANY – PATRIOTIC BANNER / BOOKMARK – SILK
This is an unusual mini patriotic silk banner. In terms of size it is similar to the Vivat ribbon which was sponsored by the German Red Cross (Deutsche Rote Kreuz) and depicted German military exploits, commanders, and royalty.
The color of the banner is white. There is fancy trim on both the vertical sides. There is shredding at the top and bottom. This is quite similar to what we see in the silk liners of pickelhauben and is almost like a run which one might see in silk stockings. Once it gets started, it is hard to stop. Printed on the surface is a bold silver and black 1914 Iron Cross. Also printed is the legend “Trust in God.”
