GERMANY – PATRIOTIC BOWL – GENERALFELDMARSCHALL PAUL VON HINDENBURG
Generalfeldmarschall Paul von Hindenburg was the best known German general. After many victories against the Russians on the East Front (Including the Battle of Tannenberg) he was promoted and returned to Berlin as the Chief of the General Staff. Even after the war he remained popular and ultimate became the President of the Weimar Republic.
This is an early war (1914-15) patriotic plate of Generalfeldmarschall Paul von Hindenburg. The porcelain plate has an iridescent or opal like finish surrounding the outer trim with three bands of gold circling the bowl. The outer edge is scalloped. The lettering of the bowl is gold and is faded as appropriate for the age. There is a wreath of oak and laurel leaves surrounding Generalfeldmarschall Paul von Hindenburg image with a 1914 Iron Cross at the top. Hindenburg in a dress uniform bedecked with a neck order and a large medal bar. Circling his image is a wreath of oak and laurel leaves.
