This is Sanke card Nr 617 of Leutnant Carl Menkhoff. He was well into his thirties before flying and was one of the oldest pilots in the Imperial German Air Service. He accumulated thirty-nine victories. He was shot down in 1918 by an American pilot. This was his only victory. Menkhoff spent the rest of the war in a POW camp.

This pose shows him looking to his left. He is wearing a visor cap. We can see his Prussian pilot badge, 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class, and a small ribbon bar. His PLM is at his throat.

This card is in excellent condition and was never mailed.
