GERMANY – VISOR CAP – OFFICER – IMPERIAL GERMAN NAVY – SUMMER WHITE TOP

We recently acquired a small collection of items from the Imperial German Navy (Kaiserliche Marine). Each of these are in the much rarer summer weight WHITE. While the entire German Navy wore white during summer months as opposed to dark blue in the winter due to the weight of the fabric it is entirely possible it was worn by A Navy officer in China and Africa.

The first item is an officer visor cap in white. In recent years it has been virtually impossible to find ANY Navy visors caps regardless of color. Those that I have seen have been in blue and in much poorer condition than this example with extensive moth damage and sell for upwards of 2,500 Euros (Approximately $2,900.00)
This cap on the other hand is in superior condition. If you appreciate condition as I do, then you will clearly see the benefit in this fantastic cap. The white top shows some slight signs of age/soiling but there is no moth damage whatsoever. Mounted at the front is a wonderful large Navy officer cap badge with beautiful toning. Due to its size it is clearly pre WW I. This is one of the most impressive cap badges I have ever laid my eyes on. The cap has a fine black visor and a rare find is a COMPLETE chinstrap with the correct buttons. In most Navy caps that I have found in the past and see on the market there is no chinstrap so this is a real plus.
The interior of the cap is in equally impressive condition. The leather sweatband is in fine condition and there are no signs of the manufacturer so this could well have come from a Chinese tailor shop as well.

In conclusion this is an authentic white top visor cap. It shows honest age which comes from being produced more than one hundred years ago. This is an opportunity to add an ultra-rare visor cap to your collection.
