Description
This is a hand carved, solid wood German patriotic box. It measures 3″ x 5 ½” x 8,” making it an ideal size for a bedside table or desk top. A hand painted oak leaf wreath is carved into the box’s top, accented in four places with red and black strips of ribbon. The wreath encloses the phrase “Erinnerungen an die Kriegsjahre 1914-16” (Memories of the War Years 1914-16). The latter might just be what its original owner once locked inside it. The box is in excellent condition, with all its hardware in place. Its lock and a small skeleton key (taped inside its lid) are both functional. Most boxes like this that we have acquired in the past have NOT had their keys still present, which makes this one extra special!
