IRON CROSS – 1914 – 1ST CLASS – LOW VAULTED – HALLMARKED FOR GODET – IN ORIGINAL PRESENTATION CASE

This is a very elegant, high-quality 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class. It is a low vaulted example that was privately-purchased. The paint on the obverse rates at about 90%, with some loss of paint. The frame is very high-quality and displays a wonderful patina.
As we examine the reverse, the first thing we see is a swollen pin, often found on higher quality EK’s. Stamped on the pin on the reverse we see “G” for Godet. Godet was one of Kaiser Wilhelm II’s house jewelers and produced some of the finest decorations in Germany.
The final detail is the decoration’s presentation case. The case has a decorative finish to it, with an Iron Cross outline in silver on its top. Inside the case, we see a purple silk liner for the case’s top half. The bottom half, which is fitted for the Iron Cross, is also purple. Structurally, the case is solid and in excellent condition.
Overall, it is a very fine set that would make for an excellent addition to your collection. $850.00
